Ever wonder about those people who always have delicious lunches at work? They leave the microwave smelling like a 4 star restaurant and you are left wondering what fast food item to stomach during a rushed lunch.
I used to stare at those people too, thinking, "I'm too busy to bring something like that into work." Then one day, glaring at a fried eggplant parm sandwich that was already making my stomach churn, I noticed the receipt for $5.50. $5.50 for something that was already making me feel ill!
After I got over the nausea, I decided to tally the cost of eating out ever day for a week. The cost was not pretty. My inability to stay awake after lunch because of greasy, carb-laden food was also unfortunate. To top it off, with the 15 minutes or more that it took me to purchase lunch, I could have been enjoying my lunch break.
Enough was enough, I decided this week to sacrifice 5 minutes of my out of work time each night to pack a lunch. Mostly leftovers, but they sure are delicious and me and my wallet feel healthier and happier!
Quick tip: Take 5 minutes and pack your lunch the night before so you have one less thing to think about in the morning.
